Our Roofing Process
The prospect of installing a new roof might initially appear as a complex and challenging project. However, here to assist you every step of the way. Whether your preference leans towards a luxurious roofing option that makes a bold statement or you find yourself in need of a new roof or roof repair, we are dedicated to providing thorough guidance throughout the entire process.
Our commitment extends beyond mere completion; we strive to ensure your utmost satisfaction before concluding the project. From the initial consultation to the final details, we are here to make the roofing process as seamless and satisfying as possible.
STEP 1
Consulting
The roofing specialist will initially come to your location and outline the various choices available for your new roof. They will present samples, elucidating the key features of each material. After ensuring you have a comprehensive understanding of all options, the expert will make a recommendation based on their expertise and your specific preferences.
STEP 2
Estimate
Upon gathering all necessary details, we will generate and dispatch a proposal. This document will outline the operational aspects of the roofing process and provide a comprehensive overview of the diverse roofing options available, including materials, gutters, and other special features. Please be attentive to PandaDoc, our chosen software for transmitting proposals, information sheets, and change orders.
STEP 3
Questions
Once you've reviewed and received the proposal, feel free to pose any questions to either the roofing expert or our office team. Direct inquiries regarding roofing materials or the re-roofing process to the roof expert, while questions about scheduling, payments, and related matters should be directed to our office team.
STEP 4
On board
Upon your endorsement of the proposal, we will include you in our jobs board and maintain regular communication concerning project updates. An informational document containing valuable suggestions for the project, such as the removal of an antenna for cable service and ensuring access to electrical outlets, will be forwarded to you. Additionally, this is the opportune moment to select the color for your new roof.
STEP 5
Working
About one week before initiating work on your roof, our Project and Office Manager will inform you of the start date and synchronize the entire roofing process with you.
In this phase, if required, we will also obtain the necessary permit for your project. The project manager will arrange a meeting with you at the job site to address any queries before commencing the process. In general, the roofing process unfolds as follows:
Roof Removal: As the initial phase of the roofing process, we dismantle your existing roof, taking care to cover the landscaping beforehand to prevent any damage during the procedure.
Structural Analysis: The removal of the old roof allows us to inspect the sheathing and internal structure for issues like termites and damaged wood. This step is a legal obligation because the condition beneath the old roof can impact the performance of the new roof once installed.
Substrate Replacement: If the substrate is deemed unsatisfactory following the roof analysis, involving unevenness or gaps, we'll engage in a discussion about replacement options. Commonly used materials for replacement include plywood, OSB, and solid sheathing.
Underlayment Installation: The underlayment, the initial layer of material installed before the exterior roof layer (shingles, IB, tiles, etc.), is crucial. It prolongs the life of your new roof by safeguarding against moisture, summer heat, and cold weather.
Flashing Installation/Replacement: During the underlayment process, we complete the installation of pipe flashings, nosing, and roof vents required for your roof. We may utilize existing components or replace them as needed.
Valley Areas: Installation of materials covering valley areas, with two common types being California and metal valleys.
Insulation Installation: This optional step, subject to the type of roof, can alter the roofing process order. Insulation, resistant to varying temperatures, serves three purposes: enhancing energy efficiency, extending the life of your home by protecting its materials, and providing long-term cost savings.
Exterior Layer Installation: This layer, dependent on your project, reflects sunlight off the roof and keeps water outside. Material choices may include composition, metal, IB, tile, etc.
Details: Inspection of the newly installed roof, along with the installation of gutters and downspouts, and thorough cleanup of the job site.
Final Inspection: Conducted by the regulating agency (city, county, or state), this step ensures a smooth process. Most agencies mandate smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms for inspection success. Although we do not offer these services, we can suggest a contractor for your needs. STEP 6
Project Completion
Upon reaching a substantial completion milestone, we will request the client's presence for a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) to assess the project and identify any deficiencies that need correction or completion. We will promptly address these issues to ensure the client's complete satisfaction. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that our clients are entirely pleased with the final result.
